A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to come across this awesome puzzle during a visit with my grandma and her friend Joy. I’ve talked about the lovely Joy on the blog before, as she seems to find vintage things that need a new home and loves to share them with me and my family. She had brought around about 10 puzzles that were no longer wanted and wondered if any of my grandma’s children or grandchildren might like them. I couldn’t resist, so I went to have a look. There were a lot of puzzles that didn’t really interest me, but then I found this:

It’s a genuine Walt Disney Three Little Pigs Puzzle! The box has seen better days, but the puzzle itself is in mint condition! I couldn’t believe it! I love classic Walt Disney, and I adored puzzles as a kid. This Junior King Puzzle was made in Holland, but the exact age of it is unknown as the copyright is before dates were marked on the box.

To find a puzzle that has all it’s pieces that is likely to be pre-1980 seems amazing to me. And the fact it’s in such good condition reminds me that there are things worth keeping and that some people do take great care of their possessions, and by doing that they allow whole new generations to enjoy something that they once loved.
I think I’ll be keeping this one.
Thanks, as always to Joy, for de-cluttering her retirement village and finding things a happy home.
Did you have something like this as a kid?

i didn’t have this puzzle ~ but ~ mum used to buy me a ‘Dinsneyland’ comic every week … (back in the 70′s)… anyway, there were about 290 of them and I was keeping them in a safe place… When i asked mum for them about 10 years ago, they were no-where to be found! we turned up every place in the house and so either she threw them out, gave them away or my brother and his wife did the same (as they were living in our old house at the time) eek …disaster! … ebay to the rescue…
unbelievably someone in the UK was selling almost the entire set for ONE POUND!!! Needless to say I snapped them up and the catch was that the postage was VERY expensive, but worth every penny… I have sourced the entire set again now and love them dearly.
things like this are definitely worth hanging onto… great memories, but lovely keepsakes for your own children. xx
great find and big hug to Joy :-)
How fun is this! Thanks for sharing, what a special treasure!
